Norfolk Internal Combustion Engines visit Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum

The Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum is pleased to be able to host an exciting day of engines, courtesy of the Norfolk Internal Combustion Engine Society (NICE).

The NICE Society was created in 1973 by a group of people who had very similar ideas about restoring old machinery, mainly agricultural to start with. This aim soon evolved into a club which collects, repairs and maintains all kinds of engines and most kinds of mechanical everything, with members helping members and newcomers alike, to find, rebuild and operate their engines.

The Museum site will be fully open as usual from 10am through to 4pm on the day, with all the aircraft, cockpits and equipment displays, the 446th, Air Sea Rescue, Bomber Command and the newly refurbished Royal Observer Corps buildings all open to view, and Museum Volunteers on hand to explain the thousands of aviation related items that make up the Museum Collection.

The NAAFI cafe will be open for the serious business of tea (or coffee) and cake, and the shop will be offering a wide range of aviation related goodies to help you make the most of your day. If you really want to go to town on lunch then why not try the Buck Inn situated just outside the Museum gates - give them a ring on 01986 896883 and book your table!
Entrance to the Museum, and parking when you arrive, are all free - but we would really appreciate a donation to help with the never ending maintenance of all the exhibits and to help us keep the Museum growing.

Aeroplanes on display date from before the war through to the Canberras, Lightnings, Hunters and Harriers that have seen service in the RAF in more recent times. Across the whole site there are more than 60 aircraft and cockpit sections on display and can often offer access into many of them for photo opportunities. Museum Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and point out some of the features of each aircraft.

Well behaved dogs are welcome, provided they are kept on a lead (but not in the shop please, it gets a bit narrow). The museum is wheelchair friendly with access to all areas - apart from aircraft cockpits.
