Open Session: Willow Hazell – The Dreaming

Joyful and unsettling, this work-in-progress showing combines live music, movement and spoken word on a dizzying revolving stage.

The Dreaming is built from Willow’s experience of chronic illness as a teenager: a body no longer working, isolation, the strangeness of not being believed, and the alternate realities they built to survive it. It walks the line between trauma and joy, between grief and derision, between the surreal and the achingly real.

Willow Hazell is a multidisciplinary artist making vivid, emotional work inspired by discomfort, comedy and the natural world.
