Shakespeare and The Spoken Word

At the Old Theatre in the beautiful market town of Framlingham, enjoy three days of dynamic workshops with Peter Hamilton Dyer, improving your spatial awareness, breath, articulation and vocal projection, and exploring 'Hamlet', learning about the structure of the language, and the profound drama of one of the greatest plays ever written.

Peter is an RSC and Shakespeare's Globe actor, appearing in the West End and on Broadway, and he is a long standing member of Shakespeare's Globe's Higher Education Faculty, teaching drama students, undergraduates, and MA students from all over the world as a Course Director, Text, and Globe Performance Practice specialist.

In the three day Intensive Course in Framlingham, you will explore how all spaces affect us physically, how by connecting with your breath you can release your own true voic; and from this strong foundation you will examine how Shakespeare's plays are like musical scores, and how the textual scaffolding that Shakespeare uses within his plays, and 'Hamlet' in particular, enables and encourages us to relish speaking the words aloud.

Over the three days, you will be looking at Hamlet from three key perspectives : a)'National Threat' (the Ghost, Fortinbras, Army Soldiers) b) 'Present Power' (Claudius, Gertrude, Polonius) and c) 'Hamlet' (Hamlet, Ophelia, Laertes).

“A stellar practitioner. Positive energy, expert knowledge, and passion.”
