Tea for the British...with a twist of Suffolk

A talk by Dr Miriam Stead at Walpole Old Chapel.

This talk takes a look at the development of the tea trade in Great Britain using Suffolk sources and tells the story of the nation’s favourite brew focussing on the 18th to 20th centuries.

It charts the journey of tea from China and India through the London Docks and onwards coastwise to Suffolk. The talk will look at tea manufacturers, tea dealers and local tea sellers and spot some of the famous brand names with a link to our county.
