The Wooden Roots Experience is a two-day celebration of authentic West African drumming, dance and culture, bringing internationally acclaimed artists to Suffolk for an unforgettable immersive weekend at Snape Maltings.
Participants can choose from a wide range of workshops designed for beginners through to advanced players, alongside traditional West African dance classes that explore the powerful relationship between rhythm and movement. Throughout the weekend, there are opportunities to meet the artists, connect with fellow participants and experience the vibrant community that makes this event so special.
Saturday evening culminates in the energetic Dununba Party, where the artists perform together in an informal celebration of music, dance and culture. On Sunday evening, the weekend concludes with a spectacular concert featuring the Sidiki Dembele Ensemble in collaboration with the Manchester Collective, blending the rich traditions of West African music with Western classical performance in a truly unique musical experience.
