War Requiem Study Day at The Red House

A day of talks and discussion about Britten's remarkable work.

Composed in 1961 and premiered in Coventry Cathedral in May 1962, it is one of Britten’s most enduring and most-performed works. Many aspects of this multi-faceted piece will be covered, including Wilfred Owen’s poetry, the art of commemoration, the dramatic force of War Requiem in performance, and a guide to its musical themes and structure.

Speakers include novelist Salley Vickers, Dr Kate Kennedy (from the Oxford Centre for Life Writing) and Britten Pears Foundation’s Lucy Walker.

A sandwich lunch is included. Please indicate when booking whether you would like a vegetarian option, or whether you have any other dietary requirements.
