The Crown and Castle

In the heart of Orford you will find the Crown and Castle, a restaurant with 21 rooms

The Crown and Castle is renowned for a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that allows guests to enjoy their surroundings and feel free to take their time.

Winner  *Good Hotel Guide Editor’s Choice 2018 award for Restaurant with Rooms *
There are few better places on The Suffolk Coast to enjoy the blue skies and sunshine than Orford, a small fishing village known for its peaceful atmosphere and the bounty of brilliant local produce.

There is a lot to explore including the strangely beautiful Ness and Orford’s fine 12th-century castle. For food-lovers, Pinney’s traditional smokehouse and the brilliant artisan Pump Street Bakery are a must. Just a little further afield, Rendlesham Forest offers wonderful walks and on RSPB Havergate Island wildlife teems (pre-bookable visits only).

The Crown and Castle’s 21 en-suite bedrooms are light and comfortable with modern bathrooms. Best House rooms have wonderful views over to the estuary and sea, while ground-floor rooms are sited in the garden and have semi-private terraces. Five of the Garden rooms are designated dog-friendly, as confirmed by another recent award from the Good Hotel Guide. With extensive riverside or woodland walks there is no better place to bring your four-legged friend!

Good food is at the heart of the Crown and Castle. The restaurant has a relaxed but lively ambience and guests often cite the food as a major reason for staying. At lunchtime, the casual menu offers anything from proper shortcrust steak & kidney pie to Italian beef fillet carpaccio and in the evening the a la carte again offers a range of authentic Italian and British dishes.
