Hippersons Boatyard

Some of the best ways to see and experience the river! Day boats, canoes, kayaks, Stand up Paddleboards (SUPs) and a pedal boat unique to the Norfolk Broads, are all available to hire on the southern reach of the Norfolk Broads in Beccles, with day hire from 9.15am till 4.45pm, costing £110 for the day on an electric boat or £55 a day on the canoe or double kayak. We also offer guided canoe and kayak tours with our guides, and SUP lessons with our qualified instructor.

Hire canoes, kayaks, SUPs or a pedal boat, to explore the Waveney river and valley. Have fun getting up close and personal to nature: Kingfishes, Marsh Harriers, and Herons are some of the regular sightings by customers.

If you would like to go out on a canoe or a kayak, but would like to go with someone to show you the way and the paddle technique, why not try a Hippersons guided tour?

They offer the opportunity to hire a pair of paddle boards for the day with a friend, as long as you can prove your competence on the board by performing a self-rescue, sharing your certification or membership of a professional organisation for SUPs, as they want to ensure you are safe on the river. If you are unsure, new to SUPs or a little rusty, you can book a SUP two hour lesson, where all you need to be safe will be covered.

For something more leisurely why not take a day boat for the day. In a day you can cruise from Hippersons Boatyard up to Oulton Broad. Once at the broad there's a choice of pubs for lunch or cafes by a play park. After lunch, enjoy a leisurely cruise back to the yard and if you arrive with time to spare, cruise past the beautiful back gardens of Beccles and spot local wildlife! Want a romantic day without anyone else, you could always book one of Paulines bespoke picnics and have lunch on a secluded mooring at North Cove.

All boats have canopies which can keep off the rain or the sun and buoyancy aids are provided for all human passengers, fuelled parking is included in the price of all the experiences.

Whatever way you want to do it, Hippersons can help you to bring the river to life in a way that will create lasting memories for you to take away and turn into shared stories.

You can also stay at Hippersons Boatyard on their beautiful houseboats and luxury glamping pod right on the river! See the website for more information and watch the video by clicking on the images above to see Secret Water, a 2020 Finalist for Norfolk and Suffolk self catering accommodation.
