Some of the best ways to see and experience the river! Day boats, canoes, kayaks and bikes are all available to hire on the southern reach of the Norfolk Broads in Beccles, with day hire from 9.30am till 4.45pm, costing £105 for the day on an electric boat or £50 a day on the canoe, part days are also available.
On Thursdays from Mid May to the start of August only, Hippersons are offering Twilight boat hire; running from 5.00pm till sunset (approx 8.30pm -9pm), giving you enough time to cruise to a local pub and have dinner, or add a hamper to your booking and moor up in a secluded spot. Please note that Twilight hire is only available for advance bookings.
In a day you can cruise from the Boatyard up to Oulton Broad. Once at the broad there's a choice of pubs for lunch or cafes by a play park. After lunch, enjoy a leisurely cruise back to the yard and if you arrive with time to spare, cruise past the beautiful back gardens of Beccles and spot local wildlife!
All boats have canopies which can keep off the rain or the sun and buoyancy aids are provided for all human passengers, fuel is included in the price.
Shorter distances are covered by person power in a canoe or a kayak, and you see the river in a completely different way. Our qualified staff will show you how to use them and explain where you can go with information about the tides.
There are many cycle routes available to explore the Waveney Valley with lots of lovely cafes to stop at en route to provide well deserved sustenance.
