Collector's Choice Exhibition

Exhibition of Newly Discovered Old Paintings and Drawings Exhibition in Wickham Market near Woodbridge

More than sixty oil paintings, pencil drawings and watercolours will be on display and for sale. Many of the newly discovered pictures are by George Thomas Rope who lived in the village of Blaxhall, an avidly collected artist who was also a natural historian; he died in 1929.
The ‘Collector’s Choice’ Exhibition will open at The East Anglian Traditional Art Centre in Wickham Market near Woodbridge on Saturday 19th April 2025. The Exhibition will showcase works by Harry Becker, George Frost, George Rope, John Moore and Robert Burrows.

John Day, of the East Anglian Traditional Art Centre, commented, “We research and encourage interest in
the artist George Rope, having held some of his works in our Collection for over sixty years. This is a rare
opportunity to study a group of his pictures, some of which are for sale for the first time.
Our objective at the Art Centre is to promote interest in the Fine Art produced by Suffolk Artists working
between 1750 and 1950, many of whom exhibited at the Fine Art Club in Ipswich in the 19th century.”

The ‘Collector’s Choice’ Exhibition will be open from Saturday 19th April until Saturday 3rd May 2025, 11am until 4pm; open Tuesday to Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday). The Centre can be found at 48 High Street, Market Hill Wickham Market, IP13 0QS; there is a pay and display carpark opposite.
