Sun Printing at Christchurch Mansion

Learn how to create one of the earliest forms of photography – a cyanotype or ‘blueprint’. Come join these 45-minute sessions on the 12 or 13 of August.

By placing materials, such as dried flowers, onto a specially coated (non-toxic) light-sensitive paper, you will create beautiful images as the sunlight changes the colour of the paper. We will rinse the print in water and hang it up to dry. This is where history, art and science meet, and the results are magical! You will take away some mini-prints and a keyring as a keepsake.

This event is recommended for children aged 5+ and their parents/carers. Parents/carers must remain with their children throughout the event.

The workshop will take place in the Lower Tudor Room, which is accessible to all and located on the ground floor and outside the front of the building. For useful information, such as how to find us and what facilities Christchurch Mansion has, we recommend reading our Access information.

Sessions are at 10am, 11am, 1pm, and 2pm. The artist will supply all materials, and instruction and support will be provided.
