Hippersons Boatyard's Secret Water is a luxury floating glamping pod, it is the first of its kind in the United Kingdom and will provide you with a totally unique and quirky self catering experience whilst you enjoy what the Southern Broads offer within the Waveney Valley. For Romantic breaks, celebrating special occasions or time out with your own “Sparrows and Amazons” experience, Secret Water offers stunning views towards Old Beccles bridge and the quay, it provides a unique base from which to explore the local area and beyond.   

There is a generous deck at the front of Secret Water positioned so you can watch the sun rise and the sunset. A place to eat breakfast,  plan your day ahead and watch the tales of the riverbank unfold around you. 

Secret Water sleeps up to 4 in one double room and a bunk room. She has a small glamping kitchenette with a 2 ring induction hob, microwave and a small fridge; a wet room with a shower and she has underfloor heating. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use.  Secret Water is pet-free. 

Each holiday includes unlimited use of your own private rowboat, which can be moored up outside your door. There are plenty of things to do in Beccles with the Lido, museum and the coast is a 20 minute drive away. There are lots of lovely cafes, restaurants and bars all just a 10 to 15 minute walk from your floating home.

Secret Meadows

Secret Meadows is an award-winning glamping site is set at a beautiful nature reserve just outside Woodbridge.  It's not too late to enjoy a summer holidays, with a choice of a two storey safari tent, a luxurious lodge tent with a hot tub, Gypsy’s Rest or The Horsebox Hideaway. By staying at Secret Meadows you’re directly supporting nature conservation as all profits go to the wildlife charity which owns the site.

High-end facilities at each accommodation include private loo and shower, fully equipped kitchen with hot running water, fridge, barbeque and fire bowl.  Beds (including 4-poster and quirky cupboard beds) are ready-made and organic towels provided.

Looking to get away from it all? Secret Garden at Hippersons Boatyard is east facing with an uninterrupted view across the river basin and nestled in its own garden space. As the only land accommodation at Hippersons, it also boasts a fire pit and eco hot tub, fuel is included. It is just a quick 1 minute walk from your private parking space to the steps up to the entrance on the outside decking. 

Secret Garden comes with your own private rowing boat, which you will be shown how to use, so you can explore the river basin and local river. Private fishing is also available around the yard, but not from the deck. All you need is your licence.

The first bedroom features a comfortable double bed, lovely for cuddling up in and listening to the sound of the wildlife lulling you to sleep. Bedroom two has an L-shaped bunk bed which is both comfortable and inviting, whilst the room is stylish and bright.

The main living area is a generous size, with a lovely leather corner sofa, where you can sit and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple as you watch the day go to bed.  A smart television is positioned perfectly, in case the British weather lets you down or if you just fancy putting your feet up and relaxing in front of a movie. There is a kitchen with oven, hob, microwave and fridge for you to rustle up simple meals, and picnics to eat al fresco looking across the river basin as the sunsets behind you. 

The bathroom has a refreshing shower where you can wash off the days adventures in comfort, and the whole pod is heated using electric wall heaters.

Wild Cat Island at Hippersons Boatyard

Looking for something a bit different? Wild Cat Island at Hippersons Boatyard is named after the schooner used by Captain Flint to take the young sailors on their first voyage in the Sparrows and Amazons series. Just a short 5 minute walk from your private parking space, located on the main river, this floating pod, which sleeps 4 people is accessed via a floating ramp, and depending on the tide guests either have to walk up or down to get on board/

You enter straight onto the floating veranda, and this is a great place to sit and watch the river life, with a wonderful view up  to Beccles old bridge and across to Beccles quay. The perfect place to sit and talk about the adventures of the day. A door opens onto the living room where you find a sofa, a small smart flatscreen TV, a table and here you can on the sofa and enjoy the view from indoors when the weather is a little chillier. The kitchen area is well equipped with a two ring electric hob, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle.

There are 2 bedrooms on board. The first has a double bed, while the second is a twin bedroom room with 2 single rooms, and both offer great views of the river where those staying can watch boats gently drift along throughout the day. There is also a bathroom complete with a basin, WC, and a shower

Guests who want to try canoeing or kayaking can always take a guided tour and learn new skills as well as find out about the local area. If you want to try something totally different, a pedal boat for two is a wonderful way to see the wildlife.
