Remaining a private family home today, only a handful of weddings are hosted at the Hall each year. Combined with its historic charm, fairytale backdrops and secluded countryside setting, Otley Hall is a truly one-of-a-kind venue for wedding couples looking for something extraordinary for their special day.

As one of the oldest houses in Suffolk, Otley Hall has a magical, timeless atmosphere where the present is inextricably linked to the past. It is from here that Bartholomew Gosnold planned his voyages to establish Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in North America. The Hall also has links to Sir Cardinal Wolsey, the Earl of Essex, Francis Bacon and Shakespeare. 

Exclusively yours for the day, couples and their guests can enjoy all 10-acres of sensory gardens and make themselves at home in their very own historic hideaway. With vibrant borders, an Elizabethan knot garden and a fabulous croquet lawn, the gardens provide endless romantic settings for drinks receptions, photographs and garden games.

The Hall has a number of stunning indoor and outdoor settings licensed for Civil Ceremonies. Overlooking the rose lawn, the atmospheric Great Hall with its original 16th century features is perfect for intimate ceremonies of up to 50 guests. For those looking to say 'I do' surrounded by nature, the thatched Summer House provides a magical backdrop for outdoor ceremonies. Larger ceremonies of up to 85 guests can also be held in the Hall's charming oak-framed barn, Martha's Barn.

Your wedding breakfast can either take place in either Martha's Barn, which is full of character and can seat up to 80 guests, or Otley Hall's stretch tent which boasts glorious garden views and is perfect for couples dreaming of dining al fresco. Couples are also welcome to hire their own marquee or tipi to be set up on the lawn opposite Martha's Barn for larger receptions of up to 150 guests.

The village of Otley is 9 miles from Ipswich by car, which offers direct rail services to London Liverpool Street in just over an hour.
