Where to see Spring Flowers Blooming on The Suffolk Coast

As spring arrives, the Suffolk Coast and surrounds burst into colour, from daffodils and snowdrops to carpets of bluebells, wild garlic and other native blooms. Here are some of the top places to soak up the season’s floral splendour.

Woodland & Nature Reserves

Bluebells in Reydon Wood (c) Gill Moon Photography

Captain’s Wood, Sudbourne – One of the most magical places to see bluebells on the Suffolk Coast. This ancient woodland, managed by Suffolk Wildlife Trust, is carpeted in vibrant blue from late April into May. Towering oaks, winding paths and the chance to spot deer make it a truly atmospheric spring walk.

Bawdsey Hall & Surrounding Coast – Overlooking the River Deben near Felixstowe Ferry, the landscape around Bawdsey Hall offers a mix of farmland, coastal paths and open grassland that comes alive in spring. Hedgerows froth with hawthorn and blackthorn blossom, while wildflowers begin to pepper the grassy margins and clifftop walks. The nearby Bawdsey Beach and river walls provide scenic trails where fresh greenery, sea air and early meadow blooms combine, making it a rewarding spot for a peaceful spring wander on the edge of the Suffolk Coast.
