Guide to Cocktail Bars

Whether you're a traditionalist whose drink is a classic Margarita or Martini or you have fancier tastes and enjoy a Daquiri, Mimosa or Manhattan, these Cocktail serving establishments are sure to wet your whistle!

1. The Crown at Woodbridge

Situated in the riverside town of Woodbridge, The Crown is a stylish hotel with a funky bar, enjoyed by staying guests and those looking for an evening of cocktails. If you want to make a night of it, it's advisable to book a table (you could also enjoy a meal in the award-winning a la carte restaurant), the cocktail menu is extensive so you may have to pace yourself! 

Fizz cocktails include Bellini, Mimosa, Kir Royale and Champagne cocktails with classics including Cosmopolitan, Manhattan, Singapore Sling and Daquiri. If you want to try something a little bit unusual, try a Bramble (Fisher Gin, Chambord, Fresh Lemon Juice, Framboise Syrup, Ice Cap), Sidecar (Charles Huvet VSOP, Cointreau, Fresh Lemon Juice, Angostura Bitters), Chocolate Orange Martini (Golovkine Vodka, Grand Marnier, Chocolate Liqueur, Chocolate Syrup) or Lynchburg Lemonade (Jack Daniel’s, Southern Comfort, Fresh Lemon &Lime Juice, Sugar Syrup, Lemonade, Ice Cap). 

2.  The Brudenell, Aldeburgh

At The Brudenell Hotel in Aldeburgh, you can watch the sunset over the sea as you sip cocktails in the hotel's bar. The Seafood & Grill Restaurant is a good place to start your evening, tuck into locally caught fish and shellfish or opt for something from the grill, before ordering a few rounds of cocktails. 

Classics include Manhattan, Bellini, Kir Royale and Martini, with more unusual beverages including Gimlet (Fishers Gin, lime juice, sugar), Hendricks Cooler (Hendricks, lemon juice, lime juice, sugar) and English Garden (Fishers Gin, apple juice, St Germain, lime juice). 

3. Cafe Bencotto, Felixstowe

A trendy bar and restaurant in Felixstowe, Cafe Becotto serves a great selection of Meditteranean inspired dishes including pizzas, pastas and tapas. To follow your meal, or if you would prefer to go straight to the drinks, check out the cocktail menu or newly introduced gin menu!

Cocktails to choose from include Mimosa, Bellini, Rose-ecco, Prosecco Royale, Prosecco Pomander and Limoncello Raspberry Cooler. The Gin Menu is impressive too, with Gin Mare, Williams Chase Pink Grapefruit, Pinkster Gin, Tarquin's Cornish Gin, Brooklyn Gin and Little Bird Gin.

4. The Alex Cafe Bar, Felixstowe

With an enviable seafront location overlooking Felixstowe's South Promenade, The Alex Cafe Bar's patio is the perfect spot to try a cocktail or two. The quirky menu includes single drinks along with pitchers of Pimms and Sangria.

The cocktails on offer include Raspberry Gin Rickey (a large slug of Gin, fresh lime juice & raspberries, sweetened & topped up with soda), Espresso Martini (Plenty of Vodka & Tia Maria, a shot of Espresso, sweetened & shaken over ice) and Elderflower Spritz (Vodka, Elderflower Liquor & White Wine, finished with fresh mint & soda).

5. Salthouse Eaterie, Ipswich

It doesn't get much cooler than the Salthouse Eaterie at the Salthouse Harbour Hotel Ipswich. Located on Ipswich's historic waterfront, you can watch the boats bob on the marina as the sunsets on the River Orwell whilst you enjoy a meal in the stylish Eaterie before moving into the bar for cocktails. 

Choose from Vodka Martini, Aperol Spritz, Bloody Mary, Mojito, Old Fashioned, Cosmopolitan, Espresso Martini and Amaretto Whisky Sour. The compliment the cocktails there's also an extensive range of spirits including Cognac, Liqueur, Whisky, Bourbon and Single Malts. 

6. The Firestation Cafe, Bar and Coffee Roasters, Woodbridge

This quirky cafe transforms into a cool cocktail serving, vinyl-playing bar at weekends. Listen to the DJs funky tunes or test your knowledge at one of the quiz nights as you sip cocktails made with fresh ingredients, homemade syrups, high quality spirits and mixers alongside a selection of bottled beers, local wines and soft drinks. 

7. The Cafe at Urban Jungle, Beccles

Sit amongst the palms and vines and find a comfy sofa on which to sip your cocktail at the Urban Jungle Cafe. On Saturday evenings from 6pm cocktails are served, followed by the restaurant menu at 7pm. The food is seasonal and great for sharing and as darkness descends, the atmosphere increases with twinkly lights and music.  

8. Graze at The White Horse, Beccles

Situated in the centre of the historic town of Beccles, Graze at The White Horse is a small restaurant and bar with an exciting food and drink menu including Moroccan Aubergine Tagine, Roast Salmon Fillet, Thai Red Duck Curry, Hoi Sin Pork Belly and Swordfish Skewer.

The cocktail menu is equally as exciting, with drinks including Pornstar, Sloe Gin Gimlet, Twinkle (Vodka, elderflower, champagne and a lemon twist), Burnt Hazlenut (Baileys, frangelico, kahlua and cream), Strawberry Daquiri and Graze Signature Cosmo. If you want to push the boat out, then ask for the premium cocktail menu which boasts Premium Martini and Grey Goose Le Fizz.
