Breakfast Spots you need to Try!

If you listen to the experts they’ll say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating a proper breakfast will ensure you’re set up for whatever the day ahead brings. But a good breakfast is much more than that.

It’s about the great local produce used, the surroundings and the excellent service too. On The Suffolk Coast we’re lucky to have so many places to indulge in whatever type of breakfast takes your fancy. Perhaps it’s something light to accompany your browsing of the papers or maybe you’re after a traditional English breakfast, with all the ingredients sourced from just a few miles away, to satisfy your taste buds.

Try these breakfast-serving eateries to kick-start your day!

Cafe Bencotto in Felixstowe

FD - Cafe Bencotto - Chef

Breakfast at Benny's is served from 9.30am - 12pm weekdays and there's a huge selection of Spanish, French and Italian inspired dishes to choose from; Huevos Estrellados (Sautéed potatoes topped with 2 fried eggs and spicy tomato sauce), Colazione Focaccia, Brioche French Toast dipped in cinnamon butter, crunchy peanut butter and banana, banana, cinnamon and maple syrup or pancetta and maple syrup.

For a sweet treat, order the buttermilk pancakes with toppings including Greek yoghurt, honey and toasted almonds; banana, hazelnuts and Nutella; berry compote, Greek yoghurt and crushed amaretti and pancetta and maple syrup.

Just what you need before setting off for a walk along the beach!

The Ship at Dunwich

FD - The Ship at Dunwich - Exterior

An ideal spot to start a day of walks along this beautiful stretch of coast. The Ship at Dunwich is open to non-residents and dogs are welcome too!

Head out to explore the coast and nearby Dunwich heath and forest, fortified by one of their traditional home-cooked breakfasts including Lowestoft kippers, freshly made omelette with cheddar cheese or baked ham or Grilled tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms and poached egg on a thick slice of granary toast. Alternatively, you can create your own Full English breakfast and choose from Smoked back bacon, local Blythburgh pork sausage, grilled tomato, sautéed mushrooms, sautéed potatoes, baked beans, fried bread and your choice of free-range egg, scrambled, poached or fried.

The Anchor at Walberswick

FD - The Anchor Walberswick - Exterior

A little further up the coast, The Anchor at Walberswick caters for all appetites and in such a peaceful location. For a lighter start to your day, sit by the roaring fire with a pot of tea, cereal, muesli and fruit juice. If you prefer something a little heartier, then you can tuck into The Anchor Full English; with free-range egg, bacon, sausage, fried bread, tomato, mushrooms, and baked beans. Alternatively, choose from fillet of smoked Lowestoft haddock with poached egg, scrambled egg on toast, cheese or jalapeno omelette and kippers.

Felixstowe Spa - The Lounge & The Terrace

TTDA - Felixstowe Spa Pavilion

In warmer weather, sit out on the terrace overlooking the sea at The Lounge & The Terrace at Felixstowe Spa Pavilion. In winter, you can stay warm inside and tuck into a hearty breakfast in either area, whilst watching the waves crash.

On the menu, there's the traditional Full English with bacon, sausage, hash browns, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs, toast and butter or open sandwiches on rustic, home-baked bread topped with bacon, sausage, eggs or any combination with baked beans. For something a bit lighter, opt for a toasted teacake or pancakes with maple syrup, lemon and sugar or maple syrup and bacon.
