Heritage Open Days 2026: Suffolk's Museums Throw Open Their Doors

Heritage Open Days returns to Suffolk from 11–20 September 2026, with this year’s theme, “Everyday Histories,” shining a light on the stories hiding in plain sight: from old railway stations and lifeboats to family histories, local businesses, churches and the buildings that have witnessed generations come and go.

Aldeburgh Museum

Aldeburgh Museum

Aldeburgh Museum is housed in one of the best preserved Tudor Moot Hall buildings in Britain. Dating from the first half of the 16th Century, it is a Grade 1 listed, timber frame building.

Today the building is still in use for local governance. The Moot Hall, a historic building itself is also the home of the town's museum and is a separate entity from the town council, being run and managed by an enthusiastic team of volunteers.
