The Best Festive Workshops

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but the Christmas build-up can also be the most chaotic. That’s why we’ve put together our guide of festive workshops, where you can let the stress of the season melt away and focus on enjoying something more mindful.

Choose from crafty activities like willow weaving, wreath making, paper crafting or candle arranging; or take a cookery class to master a new recipe in time for the big day.

And if that’s all a little too hands on, then a festive gin tasting experience might be just the tonic to ease you into the holiday spirit!

Cocktail Discovery Masterclass at Adnams Brewery

Adnams Christmas Cocktail

Be the life and soul of this party season with a fantastic cocktail discovery masterclass at the famous Adnams distillery in Southwold.

This fun and informative experience starts with a tour of Adnams Copper House Distillery, where you’ll learn all about distillation and how they craft a wide range of spirits including vodka, gin, and whisky. Then you'll shake things up and head over to The Swan Hotel’s Still Room for an exclusive cocktail masterclass with their in-house mixologist. There you’ll be taught how to make two exciting drinks from their repertoire of classics and seasonal specialities — learning all the tricks so you can try them at home.

At £60 per person, this is not only a great day out but a great way to pick up some new skills along the way. Experiences take place on Saturday afternoons in December starting on the 6th, with an extra date on Tuesday 23rd.

Festive Wreath Making at Retreat East

Wreath Making

The wreath is a quintessential symbol of Christmas, with a history dating back to the 16th century when our ancestors would hang evergreens on the door in a wreath as a way to symbolise the everlasting love of God and as a warm welcome to the spirit of Christmas to enter the home.

Why not turn your hand to the ancient art of wreath-making and enjoy a little mindfulness before the chaos of the season begins. Retreat East is a beautiful setting in the idyllic Suffolk countryside of Hemingstone, with atmospheric barns and cosy vibes all around.

The workshop, taking place on 22nd, 23rd, 29th & 30th November, is guided by The Suffolk Florist who will lend you their expertise in creating your very own luxury wreath using seasonal foliage, berries, and natural decorations.

After the workshop, relax and indulge with Festive Afternoon Tea, featuring a delicious selection of seasonal savouries, homemade scones and Christmas-inspired sweet treats, all served with warming teas or a glass of fizz to toast the season.

Whether you're coming with friends, family, or as a festive solo treat, it’s a wonderful way to celebrate the joy of Christmas in beautiful surroundings.

Spaces are limited. For more information and to book visit retreateast.co.uk/whats-on/christmaswreathmaking
