Distance: 62 miles / 100.5 km
This long distance regional cycle route follows trails through the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape. The route also includes a section along National Cycle Route 1, taking in historic villages, nature reserves, ancient castles and several rivers.
The route starts in Felixstowe, heading east towards the coast at Felixstowe Ferry. From here, you take a ferry across the River Deben and continue on to Alderton and Orford, crossing the River Butley along the way.
Cycling past Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings, a picturesque area along the River Alde, this nature reserve features reedbeds, wet woodlands, and marshlands teeming with wildlife.
Next, you travel north to Bruisyard, where you join National Cycle Network Route 1. Following this route southwest, you pass the historic Framlingham Castle and the villages of Easton, Dallinghoo, and the town of Woodbridge, with its charming quay and old mill on the River Deben.
The final leg of the journey leads from Woodbridge back to Felixstowe, passing through Waldringfield, Newbourne, and Kirton along the way.
