The Fish Hut, Southwold

If you find yourself in Southwold, be sure to visit Nick Attfield and his seemingly impossibly small but award-winning fish and chip van The Fish Hut.  The pair are heroes in the world of British street food and serve some of the best Fish and Chips around!

Styled like a Southwold beach hut and decorated with bunting, wooden seagulls and colourful images of the sea and complete with a fish tank and sandpit, the Fish Hut can usually be found near one of Nick’s pubs, The Bell Inn, Walberswick.

As Nick has concerns about overfishing, all of the fish he serves are sustainably and locally caught within strict quotas.  All cod is caught by long lining on the local day boats, which supports the Blackshore fishermen.

The Fish Hut is not only renowned locally, and Nick has travelled around the UK to serve his Fish and Chips at A-List parties.  Amongst his celebrity engagements Nick catered for The Independent’s restaurant critic Tracey MacLeod’s 50th birthday as well as Piers Morgan’s wedding.

The Fish Hut won “Best Main Dish” at the British Street Food Awards and is a finalist in the 2012 awards.

Why not pay Nick a visit and try for yourself?  The Fish Hut will be attending the 2012 Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival, a two-week celebration of the abundance of good local food and drink to be found in East Suffolk.
